Dino Desica
Dino Desica is an ambitious Italian actor whose character is shaped and inspired by Vittorio De Sica, the actor and film director who pioneered neorealism, a movement in Italian cinema that depicted post-war struggles by focusing on ordinary people and real-life settings.
Similarly, Dino draws influence from the main character in Alberto Moravia's post-WWII novel Boredom, which explores human behaviour in a fractured society. The novel portrays a failed artist's obsessive relationships and examines the intersections of wealth, sex, and masculinity, reflecting the complexities of modern life.
His performances act as a rehearsal space, embracing life'slife's inherent uncertainties and blurring the line between acting a character in everyday life and striving to achieve something ""real"" in performance.
Desica's work appear playful yet melancholic, often taking the form of a rehearsal that blends vulnerability and imperfection, mixing masculinity and queer identity with stereotypes and idealization.
Living in the tension between self-obsession and the desire to transcend the ego, Dino's performances aim to connect with something greater. Through monologues, stand-up comedy, or acapella singing, he navigates this balance, sometimes shifting between these forms to capture life's unpredictability.

Desica's performance style reflects disillusionment and existentialism and challenges stereotypes, using improvisation to respond to the pursuit of perfection.
