The World as a Stage (2018) scaffolding and Projection, 12 x 18 x 2 m, The Cass University, London

The World as a Stage 2018

For his BA Fine Arts degree show, Norman Mind created a large scaffolding installation outside Cass University. Though imposing in size, the unfinished scaffolding symbolized the fragility of the university, which was set to close despite recent costly renovations.

At night, the empty structure transformed into an open cinema, projecting small, everyday moments from the local community. The installation reflected the delicate nature of these unobserved moments, capturing the vulnerability we feel when unseen. The project drew a parallel between the instability of the institution and the fleeting, fragile nature of daily life.
